Chatrium Hospitality Celebrates World Rivers Day with Chao Phraya River Clean-Up

Bangkok, September 2023 – Chatrium Hospitality, a leading name in the industry, continues to champion environmental sustainability through its corporate social responsibility programme, “Think First-Think Earth”. As part of this initiative, Chatrium recently marked World Rivers Day by cleaning up and collecting trash along the Chao Phraya River.

The activity organised by ICONSIAM, called “Love Chao Phraya, Collecting Trash on World Rivers Day 2023”, took place from 9-10.30 am on September 26. The event began with an opening ceremony at Pier 2, ICONSIAM, and then volunteers from Chatirum and other riverside businesses spread out to clean up the river and communities that live along the Chao Phraya River.

Chatrium Hospitality Managing Director Savitri Ramyarupa and corporate management team members led the hotel staff on this shared mission to revitalise this important waterway that is not only a cultural and historical treasure but also an essential source of livelihood for many communities.

With its participation, Chatrium Hospitality underscores its dedication to corporate social responsibility and its pledge to positively impact the environment. The “Think First-Think Earth” project is a testament to the organisation’s resolve to minimise its ecological footprint and contribute to a cleaner, healthier planet.

In the past, Chatrium Hospitality’s sustainability initiatives under the ‘Think First Think Earth’ programme include reducing all single-use plastic, food waste prevention, utilising solar energy as an alternative energy source, a water management and energy conservation policy, and the ‘REDUCE, RECYCLE & REUSE’ initiative.

Additionally, the hospitality group is committed to helping advance and positively impacting people’s lives in the areas where its hotels are located. Their social projects include supporting the Thailand Association of The Blind, the Father Ray Foundation and the Khlong Toey School for underprivileged students. In Myanmar, they built a multi-purpose learning hall, concrete paths, plus two buildings at the Narawat Monastic Education School in the Shwe Pyi Thar Township.
