A donation ceremony took place for the new Basic Education Primary School at Kwal Te Village, Waw Township, Bago District with representatives from Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, the Education Officer of Waw Township, teachers, students, invited guests and media in attendance. The management team and staff of Chatrium Hotel were delighted to hand over the new school building to the Township Education Officer after the opening ceremony ribbon cutting.

The initial funds for the new school were raised from the Music For Myanmar 2019 event held in October 2019. The new school building can accommodate up to 160 students for the coming school term. With this new school building, 50 students from Kwal Te Village from any religious or ethnic background will be able to study and gain an education, and we would like to share our happiness with our sponsors and business partners of The Music for Myanmar Charity Event 2019 and thank them for their wonderful contributions and support.

As part of the donation, Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon provided the new school building (1,800 sq. feet) plus 20 pairs of school desks and chairs, 5 whiteboards, 1 bookshelf, 1 concrete water tank and a toilet. The total amount of the donation amounted to MMK27,300,000 with the funds coming from the Music For Myanmar event, plus contributions from Chatrium’s management, employees and guests.
